Fountain Heights Park Multi-use Courts
The Goal: Through a partnership with Birmingham Parks and Recreation, the Fountain Heights Neighborhood Association, Birmingham Hardcourt Bike Polo, Birmingham City Council, Birmingham Parks & Rec, and I Am BHAM, Athletic Alabama is seeking to raise funds to complete a multi-use courts project for Fountain Heights Park in Birmingham, Alabama. Our goal is to build and maintain two multi-use courts in the southside of Fountain Heights Park, where Birmingham Bike Polo currently plays Tuesday nights and Sunday afternoons. With these courts, we will have the ability to host major events that will bring hundreds of people to the city. This project will require new concrete pads, two sets of dasher boards, painting and vinyl decal work, and many hours of labor. We are reaching out in hopes that you and your company can help us make this project a reality!
About multi-use courts with dasher boards: What are dasher boards, you may ask? They are four foot high walls made out of sturdy high-density polyethylene. These walls encompass the courts in order to allow for safe, consistent game play. Enclosed courts will provide a versatile recreational space where communities can come together to enjoy a wide range of sports and activities, all of which provide health benefits. Whether it's roller hockey, bike polo, futsol, roller derby, or even just an enclosed space for kids to play, multi-use courts offer a dedicated area to play sports and enjoy recreational activities promoting physical activity, skill development, and friendly competition. Engaging in regular sports and exercise is a great way to improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, agility, and coordination, and the courts will provide a safe environment for exercise and encourage active play for children, teens, and adults of all ages.
What’s in it for you? With your help, we will be able to purchase professional Dasher Boards that are built to withstand the elements for a decade plus. Your logo will be professionally affixed to these walls for two years, after which a discounted rate will be offered to maintain logo placement. The different donation levels will determine the size and placement of your company logo. Our courts are visible from I-65 and will also be shown during any media coverage of events as well as regular use. Birmingham Bike Polo regularly hosts events which bring participants and spectators from all across the city, and their most recent tournament brought competitors from all over the United States. The same holds true for Roller Derby bouts and Roller Hockey tournaments. In addition, Birmingham Bike Polo has been featured on local news programs and television shows. Having your company logo on the court walls will allow for continuous advertising for years.
